A significant portion of the workforce expressed a desire for better productivity support and clearer insights into how their daily tasks align with the company’s broader strategic goals. Furthermore, there was a dip in satisfaction regarding opportunities for professional growth and the expansion of skill sets.

The Evolving Role of Managers

The feedback also scrutinized the relationship between staff and their direct supervisors. While the "Manager and Leader Signals" survey maintained a strong 85% confidence rating, there are clear signs of strain. Employees continue to value managers who foster inclusive environments and tackle new hurdles with optimism. Yet, core coaching functions appear to be slipping; the number of employees who felt they were being coached effectively dropped by five points to 76%. Similarly, scores for motivation and the delivery of clear, actionable feedback saw a decline.

In response to the survey results, Amy Coleman emphasized that the leadership team is listening closely to these concerns. She explicitly acknowledged the "uncertainty and pressure" many feel as the nature of work at Microsoft continues to evolve. To bridge the gap, the company has committed to more frequent, transparent communication.
