Lyndsey Fifield, a Virginia-based conservative who dated the candidate between 2013 and 2015, detailed a relationship she described as toxic. While Fifield clarified that Platner never struck or punched her, she alleged that he was physically rough, particularly when he had been drinking. She claimed he would grasp her by the shoulders, sometimes leaving marks, and once pulled her from a taxi by her wrist. On another occasion, she alleged he confined her to a room until she calmed down following a dispute.

Beyond physical conduct, Fifield pointed to what she termed a "warrior ethos," citing disturbing comments he allegedly made regarding dominance. According to Fifield, Platner often remarked that if a home intruder were to threaten him, he would rape them to assert power.
