Shivpuri Horror: Teen Girl Critically Injured in Axe Attack by Stalker After Marriage Rejection

A 17-year-old girl is battling for her life after a brutal assault by a jilted stalker who pursued her with an axe, sparking public outrage in Madhya Pradesh.

The quiet of a Shivpuri residence was shattered on Friday when a 17-year-old girl was subjected to a horrific attack by a 22-year-old man, Dharmendra Parihar, who had been pressuring her into marriage. The incident, which has left the local community in shock, escalated when the accused gained entry to the victim's home while she was alone. Following her continued rejection of his marriage proposals, the situation turned violent as the assailant struck her with an axe, leaving her with severe head and neck injuries.

A Struggle for Survival

According to local police, the victim attempted to flee to the rooftop to escape her attacker. In a chilling turn of events captured on mobile phone footage that later circulated widely on social media, the assailant attempted to hang the girl using a scarf. The intervention of onlookers forced the suspect to flee the scene, leaving the noose behind. The girl was immediately rushed to a district hospital before being referred to a facility in Gwalior due to the severity of her condition. Doctors involved in her care confirmed she required 60 stitches and remains under intensive medical supervision.

Police Action and Investigation

The Shivpuri police have registered an FIR against five individuals in connection with the crime. The charges include attempt to murder, grievous hurt, and criminal house trespassing. Sub-divisional officer of police Prashant Sharma confirmed that the primary suspect, Dharmendra Parihar, and his father, Ajab Singh Parihar, have been arrested. While the interrogation of the main suspect is currently underway, three other individuals named in the complaint remain at large.

The incident highlights the persistent and dangerous issue of stalking, which often escalates to extreme violence when perpetrators believe their sense of entitlement is challenged by a victim's refusal.
