NEET-UG 2026: NTA Releases City Intimation Slips for June 21 Re-Exam Amid Heightened Security

Following the cancellation of the May 3 medical entrance test due to a paper leak, the NTA has issued exam city slips to help students prepare for the upcoming June 21 re-test.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the city intimation slips for the NEET-UG 2026 re-exam, a move aimed at streamlining logistics for the thousands of medical aspirants affected by the recent paper leak controversy. The re-examination is scheduled for June 21, and candidates can now access their designated test locations by logging into the official portal at neet.nta.nic.in. This development comes as a critical step in restoring the credibility of the selection process after the original May 3 exam was voided following reports of widespread irregularities.

How to Access Your Exam City Details

To download the intimation slip, candidates should visit the official website and navigate to the link titled "Present Address and Exam City Updation Window for NEET(UG) 2026." Once redirected, applicants must input their unique application number, password, and the provided captcha code. The NTA has advised students to print the document for their records; however, it is important to note that this slip is not the final admit card. The agency confirmed that admit cards for the June 21 test will be issued in a separate notification closer to the exam date.

Logistics and Operational Scope

The upcoming re-exam will be conducted in a traditional pen-and-paper format, running from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM. With the scope of the test spanning 551 cities across India and 14 international locations, the NTA maintains that it has prioritized assigning students their preferred test cities wherever possible. This logistical overhaul is designed to accommodate the over 22 lakh students who were originally registered for the medical entrance, ensuring that the integrity of the examination environment is maintained across all centers.

Enhanced Security Protocols

In a significant departure from previous years, the government has instituted robust, multi-layered security measures to prevent any recurrence of the paper leak that triggered nationwide protests from student unions and political parties. NTA Director General Abhishek Singh confirmed that the Indian Air Force has been roped in to oversee the secure transportation of question papers. Furthermore, the Prime Minister’s Office is providing direct oversight of the security framework. These stringent steps follow a high-profile investigation currently being conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the initial breach.

As the June 21 date approaches, the focus remains on the NTA’s ability to conduct a glitch-free examination. While the current environment remains tense for many students, these logistical updates provide a necessary roadmap for those preparing to sit for the test once more.
