While Wang was candid about the fact that Muse Spark has not yet reached the same performance tier as the industry’s leading frontier models, he noted that it exceeded internal benchmarks during its development phase. The company is already examining how these health-oriented features could be seamlessly woven into Meta’s massive consumer ecosystem, including WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook.

Addressing Safety and Development Risks

The development process for Muse Spark was not without its challenges. Wang revealed that the team encountered specific biological-risk concerns while training the system. These findings were significant enough to influence a pivotal strategic decision: the company opted against making Muse Spark an open-source offering. By keeping the core technology closed, the firm aims to maintain tighter control over the model's safety and ethical deployment as it continues to refine its health-focused features.
