Following a significant show of strength at Jantar Mantar, the newly formed political outfit has vowed to escalate its protest across India if the Education Minister does not step down.

The political landscape in the national capital witnessed a unique form of dissent this weekend as the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) staged a massive demonstration at Jantar Mantar. Led by founder Abhijeet Dipke, who arrived directly from the United States to spearhead the movement, the CJP is demanding the immediate resignation of Union Minister Pradhan. The agitation, which drew an estimated 6,000 to 7,000 participants, was framed by its leadership as merely a "trailer" for a much larger, nationwide campaign.

A Call for Accountability

The protest centers on allegations of systemic irregularities in high-stakes recruitment and entrance examinations, with the party specifically attacking the government over issues like JEE data exposure. Protesters, many donning iconic cockroach masks distributed at the site, carried placards calling for the Minister's removal. Beyond the specific focus on the education portfolio, speakers at the event also criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its reliance on divisive identity politics, while simultaneously chanting "Bharat Mata ki Jai" to frame their dissent within a nationalist context.

Dipke, who was captured on camera carrying a copy of B.R. Ambedkar’s autobiography upon his arrival at the airport, maintained a defiant tone throughout the weekend. Speaking to the media after returning to his residence in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, on Sunday, he dismissed the possibility of backing down. "Our agitation will continue until Union Minister Pradhan resigns," Dipke asserted, signaling that the party is preparing a comprehensive action plan to mobilize supporters across the country.

The Clock is Ticking

The CJP has issued a formal seven-day window for the Centre to sack the Minister or for his voluntary resignation. Spokespersons for the party confirmed that if these demands remain unaddressed by the end of the week, the protest will shift from a localized demonstration in Delhi to a decentralized, countrywide movement. While the government has yet to issue an official response to the ultimatum, the visibility of the protest suggests that student and youth-led groups are gaining traction in their challenge to the current examination administration.

This movement represents a growing frustration among students and job aspirants regarding the integrity of centralized testing bodies. By choosing the symbol of the "cockroach"—often associated with resilience and survival—the party aims to emphasize its persistence against the establishment. As the CJP transitions from this initial show of force to a broader national strategy, the coming week will be a critical test of whether they can sustain momentum and force the government’s hand in a high-pressure environment.
