NEET UG 2026: NTA to release admit card today as countdown to June 21 re-test begins

Candidates appearing for the rescheduled medical entrance exam can download their hall tickets from the official portal as the NTA prepares for a high-stakes conduct of the test.

The wait for lakhs of medical aspirants is set to end today, June 14, as the National Testing Agency (NTA) prepares to release the neet admit card 2026. Following the cancellation of the May 3 examination due to widespread allegations of a paper leak, the NTA has set the stage for a critical re-examination on June 21. Students can access their hall tickets via the official link at neet.nta.nic.in by logging in with their application credentials.

Logistics and exam day changes

The scale of this operation is significant, covering 551 cities across India and 14 locations abroad. To accommodate the massive influx of candidates, the NTA has announced several adjustments. The exam duration has been extended by 15 minutes, shifting the window to 195 minutes—from 02:00 PM to 05:15 PM. Additionally, students will be provided with extra space for rough work. In an unprecedented move to ensure the integrity of the process, reports indicate that the Indian Air Force (IAF) is being roped in to transport question papers, reflecting the government's heightened sensitivity toward security.

Government stance and student preparation

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has been vocal in his attempts to restore confidence among the student body. Speaking in Bhopal, the Minister assured candidates that the upcoming exam will be conducted in a fair and well-organised manner. He urged students to remain focused on their studies rather than the surrounding noise. For those with specific requirements, the NTA had previously opened a portal for PwD and PwBD candidates to submit scribe details, ensuring that accessibility needs are met despite the tight timeline.

Why it matters

The re-conduct of the NEET UG is not merely a logistical challenge; it is a litmus test for the credibility of the national examination system. The government’s decision to tighten oversight and the explicit warning of "strict action" against any attempt to disrupt the process underscores the high stakes involved for both the agency and the 22.79 lakh students. This incident has sparked a wider conversation about the vulnerability of large-scale, pen-and-paper examinations in the digital age. Moving forward, the focus will likely remain on whether these "student-friendly" measures and enhanced security protocols can effectively prevent the irregularities that marred the initial May attempt.
