Maruti Suzuki Baleno Gets Pricier: Here is the New Price Sheet for Your Next Drive

The country's largest carmaker has hiked prices for its premium hatchback for the second time this year, impacting select CNG and top-spec petrol models.

If you have been waiting to drive home a new Maruti Suzuki Baleno, the timing of your purchase just became a bit more critical for your wallet. The company has officially revised the ex-showroom prices for most of its Baleno variants, with hikes reaching up to ₹7,500. While the news might sting for prospective buyers, there is a small silver lining: the entry-level Sigma petrol manual variant remains untouched, holding steady at its starting price of ₹5.99 lakh.

The price adjustments are not uniform across the board. While a large portion of the lineup sees a moderate increase of ₹5,000, four specific variants—Delta CNG MT, Zeta CNG MT, Alpha petrol MT, and the Alpha petrol AMT—bear the brunt of the maximum ₹7,500 hike. This shift suggests a strategic move by Maruti Suzuki to recalibrate margins on its higher-end and greener fuel offerings.

The New Price Breakdown

With these updates, the ex-showroom price bracket for the hatchback now stretches from ₹5.98 lakh to ₹9.17 lakh. For those eyeing the feature-rich Alpha or the fuel-efficient CNG options, the investment has clearly moved northward. The Delta and Zeta CNG trims, alongside the top-tier Alpha manual and automatic models, now reflect the new, higher price tags.

It is worth noting that this is the second time in 2026 that the company has tinkered with the pricing of this popular hatchback. This follows a broader trend seen across the manufacturer’s portfolio, where models like the Swift, Ertiga, Jimny, and the ever-popular डिजायर (Dzire) have also seen similar upward price revisions over the past few months.

Why It Matters: The Bigger Picture

This persistent upward pressure on car prices reflects the industry’s ongoing struggle to balance rising input costs with consumer demand. When a market leader like Maruti tweaks its pricing for the second time in a single year, it often signals that manufacturers are passing on the cumulative impact of raw material inflation to the end consumer.

For the average buyer, these incremental hikes might seem small individually, but they signal a broader shift in the "premium" segment of the market. As the gap between base-level affordability and top-spec luxury widens, the pressure on household budgets grows. With the डिजायर and Baleno both seeing price corrections, it is clear that the manufacturer is keeping a close watch on margin health while navigating a competitive, cost-sensitive Indian market.
