APPECET 2026: Nearly 90% of candidates qualify as physical education admissions season kicks off

The Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education has announced the results for the physical education entrance test, with male candidates outpacing women in the final qualification tally.

The waiting game ended for thousands of aspiring physical education students on Tuesday as HRD Minister Nara Lokesh officially released the results for the APPECET 2026. Data from the state’s entrance examinations reveals a robust performance, with an overall pass rate of 89.76%. Conducted by Acharya Nagarjuna University between June 3 and June 8, the test serves as the primary gateway for those looking to pursue careers in physical education across the state.

Of the 4,037 candidates who initially registered for the test, 2,958 actually showed up to the exam centres. By the time the results were tallied, 2,655 candidates had secured a pass. The gender-based breakdown shows a noticeable divide in the results: 1,993 men successfully qualified, marking a pass rate of 92.91%, while 662 women cleared the exam, bringing their qualification rate to 81.43%.

Regional performance and access

Regionally, the data highlights varying levels of success across the state’s university jurisdictions. Candidates hailing from the Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) region led the pack with a 91.60% success rate, followed by non-local candidates at 91.76%, and those from the Andhra University (AU) region at 88.74%.

For students checking their status, the process has been streamlined via digital channels. Rank cards are now available on the official APSCHE portal, and the government has also integrated results delivery through its WhatsApp Governance service (9552300009). While the physical education cohort now has clarity, the broader student community remains focused on the upcoming calendar, with many frequently tracking the latest updates on the ap eamcet results 2026 date and time as the state’s admission season enters its next phase.

Why it matters

The high qualification rate in this year's PECET indicates a stable interest in physical education pedagogy, a sector critical to the government’s push for grassroots sports development. However, the 11% gap between male and female pass rates warrants a closer look by the state council. Ensuring equitable success in technical and physical entrance exams is a recurring policy challenge; bridging this gap will be vital if the state intends to bolster the number of women instructors in its public education system.
