A Father’s Day Nightmare: When Domestic Strife Turns Fatal

A Khammam family is shattered after a mother, in a fit of rage against her husband, ended the lives of her two young sons using poison.

The irony of Father’s Day couldn't have been more cruel in Khammam this week. While the world celebrated paternal bonds, Bobbili Lingaraju returned home to a silence that will haunt him for the rest of his life. His two sons, seven-year-old Vedak Kumar and four-year-old Tanish, are gone—victims of a domestic tragedy that began with a dispute over relocation and ended in an unthinkable act of violence.

Lingaraju, who worked at a mobile phone shop, had been under mounting financial pressure. When his employer suggested he pivot to a new line of work, Lingaraju discussed the possibility of moving back to their native village to seek better prospects. His wife, Swathi, vehemently opposed the idea. What started as a difference of opinion snowballed into two days of bitter arguments, culminating in a cold, calculated decision that has left the community in shock.

According to police reports, Swathi took advantage of Lingaraju’s absence on Saturday to lace biscuits with ఎలుక (rat) poison. She fed the lethal snack to her children, effectively silencing them before calling her husband to claim they were suffering from sudden vomiting. Lingaraju, unaware of the sinister reality, rushed to procure medicine, hoping to nurse his children back to health. By the time he realized the gravity of the situation, it was too late. Vedak Kumar passed away in his sleep that night, while little Tanish succumbed to the poison at a hospital on Sunday.

The Human Cost of Unresolved Conflict

Swathi, who allegedly consumed the same poison after the act, remains in critical condition under medical supervision. The Khammam Three-Town police have initiated a formal investigation into the case. As the authorities piece together the timeline, the primary details paint a grim picture of how quickly a household can fracture under the weight of financial stress and communication breakdowns. This original article serves as a grim reminder of how domestic volatility, if left unchecked, can spill over into the most innocent of lives.

The Bigger Picture: Why It Matters

Beyond the horror of the immediate event, this case highlights a growing, uncomfortable pattern: the extreme manifestation of mental health crises within nuclear families. In many such instances, the inability to process economic shifts or marital disagreements leads to impulsive, irreversible decisions.

While the legal process will take its course, the societal implication is clear. We are seeing an increasing disconnect in how domestic pressures are managed in modern households. When basic communication breaks down, the lack of a support system or an outlet for pent-up resentment can transform a temporary disagreement into a life-altering disaster. Addressing the stigma around seeking help for marital or financial distress is not just a personal matter; it is becoming a public necessity.
